Jerusalem Patriarch to Inaugurate Complex on Friday
NAZARETH, MARCH 22, 2011 (Zenit.org).- On the feast of the Annunciation, just across from the Basilica of the Annunciation, an international, interreligious center dedicated to Our Lady is set to open. The International Mary of Nazareth Center will be inaugurated Friday by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Fouad Twal.
A place for biblical reflection, the center puts technology at the service of the encounter with Mary and the discovery of the Christian faith.
Ecumenical in its approach, the aim is to show Mary in the Christian, Jewish and Muslim worlds by means of contemporary audio-visual techniques. A one-hour visit can include the biblical terrace gardens and chapel on the roof, with wonderful views over Nazareth. There will also be a restaurant and gift shop.
A new poll conducted by the National Association of Evangelicals reveals that a majority of its members would agree that the recent earthquakes in Haiti, New Zealand and Japan are signs of the soon coming return of Jesus.
The survey shows that more than half of respondents adhere to the theological position known as Premillennialism, which interprets the Book of Revelation to be speaking of yet future events. In contrast, only 17 percent of those polled say they believe most biblical prophecy has already been fulfilled.
